Cambodia is a country recovering form a generation of warfare
and violence including almost four years of rule by the genocidal Khmer Rouge. Abolishing all education, healthcare and currency, they executed all education people killing almost two million in total.
Between 1975 and 1979, the country has been deeply wounded. During those few years, most of their educated and leading people were killed which has had a huge impact on the entire society.
Since that time, Cambodia has slowly recovered, developed, and began to rise again. There are still many needs due to widespread poverty but we believe that God wants to bring hope back to the nation.
Bible Verse
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us... let us not love with word of tongue, but with action and in truth.
In a country rife with Aids and tuberculosis, poor health care standards mean that even a simple treatable illness can be fatal.
Violence and Instability
Although now at peace, Cambodia remains a turbulent nation and violence in rural province still claims many lives.
Land Mines
The most heavily land-mined country on Earth, these remnants of the Khmer Rouge still claim the lives and limbs of victims of all ages.
Drought
Poor rainfall can mean the failure of rice crops on which the majority of Cambodian people rely for their in come.
Young Victims
These social and economic problems have resulted in countless children being forced onto the streets or into slavery6. Sometimes working to support sick parents, many children must scavenge or beg for food.
